Tom's off again.

Okay, so I was contacted by my 'new' editor and she was happy for me to continue with the 'old' editors suggested changes. I was having great trouble with cutting back the word count and kept coming back to the fact that I originally thought I was under the word count limit. I'll confess to having a bad day and searching the pub's website for confirmation of the limit. Well, knock me over I found three different limits! WTF?!?! Did I mention I was having a bad day that day? I emailed the senior editor. Yep, grabbed those guts of mine and shot off an email. Then I thought about. Yeah, I probably shouldn't have gone that route but it was done. Anyway, she got back to me within 12 hours! And when you consider time zones and stuff, well I thought that was great. She explained that they recently changed the length to allow for a longer story, not that 12,500 is long, but you get the idea. So Tom got fiddled with again. *snickering* Ooooo, didn't that sound naughty? Well, tweaked and fiddled, got the nod from two of my three CP's and SEND! Yes, he's gone, everyone wave goodbye.
Did you notice the extra CP in there? I've picked myself up a new friend and she's great. Viv is in Canada (what is it with me and friends in other countries?), on the west side so she's Pacific Time which means she's around for about half of my day. It's great, we talk all the time and generally keep each other out of mischief, although.... some of the writing that goes on.....

Sorry? Who did you say you were?

Things are getting just a little confusing in here. The week before Nano was not a good one for me, personal stuff going on and Mr. Muse took a holiday without telling me where he'd gone. Everything I went over that I'd previously written looked like shite and I contemplated throwing it all out the 11th floor window. Considering throw or dropping things out the window in Singapore is illegal and comes with a hefty jail term things were pretty grim. Tom needed work (still does but that's a whole other post) and I was planning to write some of Cam's story as well as work on the prequel to Gemini Rising for Nano come Nov 1. But without Mr. Muse and how bad my other writing looked I took myself off for three days of 'I'm not a writer, no I'm not' time. It worked! It worked so damn good that you need to meet Scott Bennett (pic below), he's a pretend cowboy. LOL Anyway, so far he's turning out to be fun.

So I'm busy writing Scott and Maddie's story and Scott's friend Josh make a cameo appearance in the first couple of pages, not even a paragraph worth, and then goes away. Well so I though. I'm writing a seriously HOT scene between Maddie and Scott and I get up to use the bathroom when Josh decides I really need to know about him and Stacey. To make him happy, cause he's very charming as you can see by his smile in the pic below, I write out the scene he's showing me. It flows, it's good, it doesn't stop! So now I'm writing two stories at once. I hear people say so what's new, well I'll tell you, they're feeding off each other. I write for one and it triggers a scene for the other, the boys are crossing over into each others stories and things are looking good for two 40k novellas by the end of Nano. Even if they're not finished they'll be so close I'll be able to get them done by end of year.

I guess I better get back to the boys.

What happens now?

I've been trying to get Tom to admit to what he did to upset the editor. His lips are sealed. Why am I harassing him? Well, the editor left. Yep! Up and left and now One Night In Bangkok is being handed over to another editor. Not sure how this will work. Do we keep going with the rewrite or stop and wait to hear from the new holder of our future? Tom's got the dirts and gone silent and because he's upset Beth won't talk to me either. And Mr. Muse isn't helping, he's got every other known person talking to me. *sigh*

I guess we just keep plodding along.

It been a while...

It's been a while since I've visited with Tom but he's back and we're reworking the beginning of his story. The editor requested a couple of changes and she wanted to see Beth and Tom's first meeting, so I'm busy writing that. Once I'm finished he'll be head back over to the editor to show her what he's got. Maybe I should send this pic with it, might get her in a bit more of a favorable mood. LOL

I haven't worked much with Cam, I've been busy with family and the great holiday we just took to the US. I'm exhausted and struggling to get back into it all but I'll get there. Besides, Cam's not the only one yelling at me to get going at the keyboard. Oh, and he says this doesn't count.

Well hopefully I'll have some good news in the next few months. It'd be nice to see one of my boys actually make it to publication.

One Night In Bangkok update.

Woohooo.....
The editor requested the full ms of ONIB, which of course I sent straight away. I'm excited and feeling sick, all the usual things associated with sending in your work. I'll know in a few weeks or sooner, but I'll keep you updated on how things are going when I know how they're going. LOL
I haven't written much about Lil' Cam Mac, family stuff getting in the way of spending time at the keyboard but things should be evening out soon and I'll be back to writing more often.
I also got the sample pages of my new website I'm having built. I love it! Once it's up and running I'll let you all know.
Hope you all had a great weekend and the start of the week is as exciting as mine has been.

New playmates.

First a news flash on ONE NIGHT IN BANGKOK, done, dusted and the query/synopsis is winging its way over to the publisher as I type. Well, it would already be there, but you get the idea. Hopefully Tom will get a contract and I'll get to blog another yummy pic of him.

Now, to new playmates. Cameron McCormick or Lil' Cam Mac. He's twenty six and a bit of a playboy, well, not really, but he is a hunk and is never short of a pretty girl. And he certainly knows what to do with them. Enter sheltered all her life by an overbearing grandmother and a figure that's a little more rounded than is fashionable, Laney Lummox. Did I mention Lumpy Laney (the horrible nickname given her in high school) is 36? And a virgin? Get your attention? Yeah, you guessed it, it's the older woman younger man theme, but I gotta say so far I'm enjoying this pair. The opening scene rolling through my head actually had me laughing out loud on the bus. Jeez, it's bad enough I get looked at because I'm not Asian and I live in Singapore, the last thing I need is to be laughing like a lunatic in public. Then again maybe that's just what I need.

Anyway, I've only got the one photo but I think he's the perfect example of what Lil' Cam Mac looks like in my mind.

So, what ya think? Hot, right?

Well I'm off to play with Lil' Cam Mac. Should be fun, right about now he's got Lumpy Laney stripped almost naked in her living room and she's got no idea he's there. LOL

Night night Tom.

Yep, you guessed it, Tom has been put to bed. He's winging his way through cyber-space to visit with both my CP's, an extra CP and a reader. Once I get their input back he'll be winging his way over to the editor I've been working with over the last few months, she's got another of my yummy men she's playing with now but is keen to play with Tom as she wants to add to their hopper in the line he's looking at.

It's kind of sad to give him up, he might not have been around very long but I got rather attached to him anyway. But I'm sure there'll be some rewriting after the crits come in so I guess it's not goodbye completely. Here's a couple of pix to keep him in mind.

Anyway, someone new has come to play and I'm off to get to know him a little better. I'll keep you posted on Tom's progress but I'll be introducing my new friend soon.
